A Forest workshop takes first-time fly anglers from classroom to lake

For Virginians curious about fly fishing, an October 3 workshop in Forest offers a full day to learn before heading out independently. The Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources lists the introductory program from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., starting at Forest Recreation Center and moving to Thrashers Lake after lunch.
The schedule begins with classroom instruction, then equipment setup and casting practice on land. The afternoon provides two hours of casting on the water, followed by equipment collection and questions.
