Blacksburg’s fall music festival will begin with a quieter half-hour
The Marching Virginians, String Project and Hokie Wellness invite families to an October 27 community evening.
An October family outing in Blacksburg will give visitors a choice between a quieter introduction to musical instruments and a full marching-band showcase.
Hokie Wellness announced September 28 that the Marching Virginians and Virginia Tech String Project will join it for a community-wide fall festival October 27, from 5–7 p.m., at the Sochinski-McKee Marching Virginians Center, 821 Southgate Drive.
Choose the timing that fits your family
From 5–5:30 p.m., organizers plan reduced sensory stimulation, without loudspeakers, flashing lights or bright lighting. Instruments will be available to explore; playing and demonstrations start after that opening period.
The Marching Virginians' performance is scheduled for 6–6:30 p.m. Other portions of the evening include trick-or-treating, crafts, meeting musicians and visiting community partners. Costumes are encouraged.
Organizers recommend bringing preferred hearing protection; a limited supply of foam earplugs is planned. Questions about accessibility or arrangements can go to Hokie Wellness at 540-231-8878 or hokiewellness@vt.edu.
