LG plans 164 jobs at a new Isle of Wight cooling-equipment plant

The announced $63.9 million investment brings industrial chiller assembly to Shirley T. Holland Intermodal Park.

Isle of Wight County is set to gain a new manufacturing operation serving the market for large industrial cooling systems.

LG Electronics plans to invest more than $63.9 million and create 164 jobs, according to the Virginia Economic Development Partnership’s September 30 announcement. The company will assemble air-cooled chillers at the 352,000-square-foot 460 Commerce Center in Shirley T. Holland Intermodal Park.

A manufacturing project with a technology connection

The announcement connects the investment to North American demand for cooling equipment, including systems used by data centers. Production is scheduled to begin in the first half of 2027.

For residents, the immediate significance is a planned addition to the county’s industrial employment base. The job figure is an announced commitment, not a count of positions already filled. The release does not provide an individual hiring schedule or pay ranges.
