Neptune Festival moves art show indoors as winds reshape the weekend
Check the revised Virginia Beach schedule before traveling: several oceanfront events have been canceled.
Virginia Beach's Neptune Festival has changed its weekend plans because of high winds. The organizer's September 24 update moves the Art & Craft Show to the Virginia Beach Convention Center on September 26 and 27, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. both days.
The revised schedule also places family activities and the Young Collectors program at the convention center. Friday boardwalk activities are suspended.
What remains—and what does not
The update says Saturday and Sunday concerts at 24th and 31st Street parks remain scheduled. The International Sandsculpting Championship is set to open at noon Saturday and continue through October 4.
Canceled events include the Grand Parade, Atlantic Regatta, Surfing Classic and volleyball tournament. Non-art-show boardwalk vendors are also canceled.
