Night work on I-81 leads this week’s Shenandoah Valley travel watch
Rockbridge and Augusta drivers should watch for overnight lane restrictions during the September 28–October 2 workweek.
Drivers traveling through the Shenandoah Valley after dark this week should check their route before leaving. VDOT’s September 28–October 2 work schedule includes overnight lane closures on Interstate 81 in Rockbridge and Augusta counties.
In Rockbridge, vegetation work is scheduled to close left lanes in both directions between mile markers 174 and 201, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday through Wednesday nights. Northbound paving between markers 174 and 177 brings separate single-lane restrictions from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. through Thursday night.
Two other stretches to watch
Augusta’s I-81 schedule includes mobile left-lane closures between mile markers 209 and 236 in both directions, also 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday through Wednesday nights.
On I-64 in Alleghany County, bridge inspection is scheduled to restrict traffic to one lane in each direction between markers 25 and 27, from 9 a.m. Thursday through 3 p.m. Friday.
