Finding the right local service can mean visiting several offices. Norfolk’s upcoming Resource Block Party will bring more than 50 organizations and resources to one address.

The Department of Human Services Community Engagement Street Team is hosting the gathering Monday, October 12, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 741 Monticello Avenue. Residents, families and neighbors are invited.

Connections beyond a directory

The city’s event listing includes education and employment, senior services, food assistance, children’s services, wellness resources and other city services. Food, refreshments, music and giveaways are also planned.

Treat the gathering as a chance to ask questions and find the appropriate next contact. The announcement does not promise eligibility for an individual program or same-day approval of an application.

For practical questions, contact the organizer at 757-796-0341. Check the official event listing before traveling, and browse Your Community for other local opportunities.
