Planning a home energy upgrade? Start with Virginia’s incentive directory

Virginia Energy Connect helps homeowners and renters find programs and local guidance before choosing a project.

By The Virginian News · Published October 2, 2026

An energy upgrade starts with a practical question: what help is available for this home? Virginia Energy Connect offers residents a state-managed starting point for that search.

Its residential page links an incentives browser, explanations of energy options, consumer-protection information and Energy Ambassadors who can help residents navigate available resources.

Use the directory before making a commitment

Start with the homeowners and renters page, then follow the relevant program to its own requirements. A directory result is a lead to investigate; it is not an approval or a promise of savings.

Before choosing equipment or signing a contract, confirm the program’s current terms with its administrator and whether the work must be approved first. Keep estimates and program requirements together so you can compare the proposed project with the actual assistance offered.

The residential page still describes its contractor-finding feature as coming soon. Do not assume that function is already available.
