Roanoke libraries turn the coming week into a neighborhood activity calendar
A costume swap, local art, a visiting animal and teen programs offer reasons to stop by beyond borrowing a book.
Roanoke's library calendar offers families several ways to turn a routine branch visit into an afternoon out next week. The September listings combine creative activities, local history and practical help ahead of Halloween.
At Gainsboro Library, a kids' and teens' costume swap invites families to donate laundered costumes at any branch. The city says costumes will be available at Gainsboro without charge throughout October. The branch also lists an exhibit about local artist David Ramey for September 28.
Pick a branch and a time
On Monday, September 28, Belmont Library's City Storytime is scheduled for 2:30–3:30 p.m., with the Roanoke Valley SPCA bringing a story, craft and adoptable pet. Raleigh Court's Zine Club follows from 3:30–4:30 p.m.
Tuesday, September 29, brings LEGO free play at Gainsboro from 4–5 p.m. and Teen Night at Raleigh Court from 4–7:30 p.m., with games, food and spaces reserved for teens.
