Roanoke’s DMV Select pauses service through October 7
The city office is handling real-estate payments during the temporary closure.
A trip to Roanoke’s downtown DMV Select will need to wait: the city has closed the service from October 1 through October 7 while the Treasurer’s Office processes real-estate payments.
The notice applies to the DMV Select inside the Noel C. Taylor Municipal Building at 215 Church Avenue SW. It is a local service interruption, not an announcement that every DMV location is closed.
Check the transaction before you travel
DMV Select normally handles vehicle-title and registration work, certain plate requests, placards and other listed transactions. It does not issue driver’s licenses, learner’s permits or identification cards.
That distinction matters when deciding where to go next. Check the service you need and the destination’s current availability before making another trip; a DMV Select counter and a full customer service center are not interchangeable.
The city’s DMV Select page carries the closure notice and transaction list. More practical local information: Living in Virginia.
