Downtown Roanoke residents and visitors should check curbside signs before leaving a car overnight next week. Milling and paving are scheduled to begin Sunday, October 11, with towing enforced in construction zones.

Work is planned from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. through mid-November, weather permitting. The city warns that nearby residents and businesses can expect overnight noise.

Check the block before you park

The project includes portions of Salem, Campbell, Kirk and Church avenues, along with 1st, 2nd and 3rd streets. The city’s full block-by-block notice identifies each stretch.

Parking restrictions will be posted in advance. Use city garages or available street spaces outside the construction area, and move vehicles before the restrictions begin.

Local access to homes and businesses will continue, according to the city. Allow extra travel time and watch for workers and equipment whether driving, cycling or walking. Check the official notice for closure updates before a downtown visit. More neighborhood information: Your Community.
