Williamsburg’s first October weekend offers a reason to slow down and browse. An Occasion for the Arts returns October 3–4, with organizers advertising more than 150 artists, live performances, food vendors and free festival admission.
Saturday and Sunday hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. A separate kickoff begins Friday, October 2, at 6 p.m.; consult the event’s own listing for that program’s details.
Plan around the street closures
The festival spans areas called Main Street, Front Porch, Avant Garden, Block Party and Patron’s Patio. Expect a range of media, from ceramics and glass to painting, photography and fiber work.
Organizers recommend parking at the Colonial Williamsburg Visitor Center, 101 Visitor Center Drive. The posted parking charge is $10 per day, with complimentary shuttle service to the Historic Area. Prince George Street, Boundary Street and the P3 area are listed as closed for festival activities.
