Banking, manufacturing and research meet at a Williamsburg advisory practice

Before entering wealth advisory work in 1996, Charles P. Lucy spent a decade in retail and commercial banking on the lower Peninsula. His education also connects him to the region: a finance degree from Christopher Newport and an MBA from William & Mary.

Lucy is now a partner at Bay Rivers Group Wealth Partners in Williamsburg. His colleagues bring different professional histories to the same office. Partner Bruce A. Lemley led the U.S. operations of Tyrolit Abrasives before beginning his financial advisory career in 1997. Alan L. Broderick entered the financial industry in 2000 and became an adviser in 2002, the year he graduated from the University of Virginia with an economics degree.

The team also includes adviser Will P. Gibson, a Williamsburg native and Christopher Newport graduate. Before Bay Rivers, he worked as a senior analyst with Nasdaq Dorsey Wright, a technical research business.

Those backgrounds sit alongside the less visible work of keeping an advisory office running. Operations manager Amy F. Pettengell has worked in the financial industry since 1997. Receptionist Dinda Westbrock previously worked in airline customer service.

Bay Rivers lays out a process that begins with a discussion of a client’s circumstances and goals, moves through analysis and recommendations, and includes an explanation of costs before agreed implementation. Periodic reviews provide a way to return to those decisions as circumstances change.
