At BDA Financial, a family business gains a teacher’s perspective
Kelsey Davidson-Todd’s move from the classroom to financial planning adds an educational thread to the Leesburg firm.
Kelsey Davidson-Todd was an elementary and middle school teacher before she entered financial services. Watching her father, Bob Davidson, work with clients helped inspire the change—a move that brought her interest in explaining complex ideas into a family advisory business.
Today, Davidson-Todd is president and a financial advisor at BDA Financial in Leesburg. Bob Davidson serves as CEO and financial advisor. The firm traces its family history back more than 50 years, beginning with Bob’s father-in-law, and the current father-and-daughter leadership continues that personal connection.
Davidson-Todd’s responsibilities include client relationships, financial planning, marketing and day-to-day operations. She holds the Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor designation and has more than eight years of experience in the financial services industry. Her planning work includes helping clients evaluate retirement options and understand the figures behind financial decisions.
The teaching background is a particularly useful thread in her story. A financial plan is only useful to a household if the people affected can understand its purpose, assumptions and choices. Davidson-Todd’s transition from education gives that part of the conversation a professional foundation of its own.
Bob Davidson brings Chartered Financial Consultant and Chartered Life Underwriter credentials to the practice. Together, the two advisors lead a firm that emphasizes individual planning, education and ongoing relationships. BDA describes its approach as independent and fiduciary, with recommendations organized around each client’s goals and circumstances.
Securities and advisory services are offered through Independent Financial Group, a separate registered broker-dealer and investment adviser. That affiliation is part of how the practice operates; it does not remove investment risk or guarantee a particular financial outcome.
The office is on Winmeade Drive in Leesburg, serving as a local base for conversations about retirement and the other decisions that accompany a household’s changing circumstances. Clients can arrange a meeting directly with the firm.
BDA’s family history supplies continuity, while Davidson-Todd’s earlier career adds a different perspective. The result is a business with a story beyond the credentials alone: one generation’s advisory work inspired another to join it, bringing the experience of a teacher to the task of helping people understand their financial choices.
