Olena Lambert brings her dental training home to Bland

When Olena Lambert completed dental school at Virginia Commonwealth University in 2007, her next chapter took her back to the community where she grew up. Bland Family Dentistry began seeing patients that November, establishing a local practice in the county she calls home.

Lambert had completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Virginia before earning her dental degree magna cum laude at VCU. Continuing education through the Dawson Academy and the Pankey Institute has remained part of her professional development.

At the Main Street practice, that training sits alongside an investment in equipment that includes digital scanning, three-dimensional imaging and a Solea dental laser. The office offers preventive and restorative services, with examinations and individual discussions guiding decisions about treatment.

The practice's history is also visible in its staff. Dental assistant Lois joined before the first patients arrived in 2007. Hygienist Brittany is a Bland native who graduated from Wytheville Community College in 2012. Front-end manager Taylour brings experience in both chairside assisting and the administrative work of scheduling and insurance billing.

Those roles connect different parts of a visit: the first phone call, the appointment and the questions that follow. Lambert describes listening and explaining care as central to her approach, particularly for people who arrive feeling anxious about dental treatment.

The business offers a membership-plan option alongside its other payment arrangements. Patients can ask the office about current terms and eligibility when discussing care; the practice describes the plan as a membership rather than dental insurance.

Outside the office, Lambert spends time on her family's beef farm. That connection to local life complements a professional choice made early in her career: bringing her education back to Bland rather than asking her hometown patients to find all of their care elsewhere.
