At Bream Family Dental Care, a new generation carries a Waynesboro practice forward
Dierdre Terlep’s work links her VCU training with a family-owned dental office established in 1973.
Dierdre Terlep joined Bream Family Dental Care in 2016, fresh from earning her dental degree at Virginia Commonwealth University. For three years, she worked alongside Alan Bream. When he retired in 2019, she continued the work of a Waynesboro practice whose family-owned history reaches back to 1973.
That transition connects two chapters of the same local business. Terlep has lived in Central Virginia since 1996 and completed undergraduate studies in biology and forensic science at VCU before entering its dental school. Her professional life then brought her to the Shenandoah Valley office on 13th Street.
Office manager Terri Bream provides another link across those years. She joined the practice in 2003 and brings more than three decades in the medical and dental professions. Her background includes clinical work supporting patients receiving sedation, alongside the responsibilities of managing the office.
Bream Family Dental Care serves Waynesboro and surrounding Augusta County with general, cosmetic and surgical dental services. Its range includes routine examinations, fillings, crowns, implants and dentures, allowing different stages of a patient's care to begin within the same practice.
The office offers consultations to discuss general and cosmetic treatment options, with an emphasis on explaining a patient's current condition and the available approaches. Sedation options are also part of its services for patients who are anxious about treatment, with suitability determined individually.
For Terlep, continuing the practice has meant bringing her own training to a business with an established place in Waynesboro. The connection is visible in the people: a dentist who learned alongside her predecessor, an office manager who has worked there since 2003, and a practice that has remained family-owned for more than half a century.
