For Brogan Insurance, a family business grows through years of answering Roanoke's questions
Mary Brogan Wilson joined the insurance agency her father founded just two years after it opened. Decades later, that early introduction has become a career of her own—and a second chapter for a family business rooted in Roanoke.

Dan Brogan established Brogan Insurance in 1983. Mary joined him in 1985 and took ownership in 2003 when he retired. The succession kept the agency in the family while placing its future in the hands of someone who had learned the work from inside the business.
At its Peters Creek Road office, the independent agency helps customers with personal and business insurance, including home, auto and life coverage. The range reflects the different questions that can arise as a household changes, a business grows or a customer needs to reconsider an existing policy. Rather than treating insurance as a one-time transaction, the agency's work extends across those changing circumstances.
Mary's colleagues bring their own paths into that work. Matt Woolwine joined the agency in 2020 and brings more than two decades of experience that includes both insurance sales and claims adjusting. That combination gives him familiarity with the beginning of a policy relationship and the point at which customers need to use their coverage.
Katie Mioduszewski arrived in an administrative role in 2022 and became licensed later that year. Her progression adds another example of experience developing within the office, alongside team members with longer careers in the field.
The agency's connections also reach beyond policy paperwork. Its community involvement has included Street Survival, Project WARM and Camp Bethel. Those activities sit naturally alongside the story of a company whose ownership and daily work have remained tied to the same region for more than four decades.
For Roanoke residents, the result is a local office with a recognizable family history and a team whose experience spans different parts of the insurance business. Customers can contact the agency to discuss their circumstances and the available options; coverage, eligibility and terms depend on the policy and insurer.
