At Farmville Mill, an old grain building becomes a place to gather
Weathered oak beams, concrete floors and reclaimed brick give Farmville Mill its character. The venue's restoration keeps those materials visible, allowing the building's earlier life to remain part of a celebration held inside it.

Husband-and-wife owners Patricia Valencia and Heinz Jones took on an abandoned grain mill beside the Appomattox River in downtown Farmville. Their project brought the structure into a new use as an event venue, drawing on a combined background of more than 20 years in hospitality and design.
The restoration's appeal lies in the meeting of those two disciplines. Design determines how the old building looks and feels, while hospitality concerns how people use it together. At the mill, the surviving industrial materials provide a setting that differs from a newly built banquet room.
The brick includes material dating to the 1800s. Along with the timber and concrete, it gives the space visible texture and a connection to the building's past. The river and downtown location add another layer: gatherings take place within Farmville's existing landscape rather than at an isolated event complex.
For couples and other hosts, that offers a distinctive starting point for an event: an old working building adapted for people to gather, with its original character still present in the room.
Farmville Mill can be contacted at 434-394-0654 or through its website. Prospective hosts can discuss the space, availability and arrangements for their event directly with the venue.
