Forest Edge grew from after-school lawns into a Blacksburg landscaping business
A local founder has built on a teenage mowing venture with landscape projects and ongoing property care.
A few lawns after school were the beginning. In 2022, while still in high school, Blacksburg native Jace and a friend started taking on mowing jobs around their community. Those small assignments became Forest Edge Landscaping, a locally owned business serving Blacksburg and the surrounding New River Valley.
The origin story fits the work. Lawn care produces visible results, but a lasting customer relationship depends on returning when the grass grows again, communicating about the next job and paying attention to a property over time. Forest Edge has expanded from its early mowing work to include mulching and broader landscaping projects while keeping routine maintenance at the center of its service.
That combination gives the company a role in both the immediate appearance of a yard and the work needed to sustain it. A refreshed planting bed and a neatly cut lawn are different jobs, yet both benefit from someone who understands how the property is used and what the owner wants to maintain.
Forest Edge's approach emphasizes straightforward communication and consistent service. Jace describes a business built through local relationships and reputation, with the same attention applied to a recurring mowing visit as to a larger landscape assignment. The company's service area remains rooted in the community where he grew up.
For homeowners, that local focus offers a direct starting point: discuss the property, identify the work and request a quote. The company also handles property-maintenance needs, making it possible to plan beyond a single seasonal cleanup.
The most distinctive part of Forest Edge's story is its progression from a student enterprise to an ongoing local business. The early work was close to home. So is the company it helped create.
