Fuqua School’s next chapter starts with its youngest learners
The Farmville independent school is introducing a spring 2027 preschool pilot alongside its established PK–12 program.
Fuqua School is preparing a new starting point for some of its youngest students. The Farmville independent school’s spring 2027 preschool pilot is designed for children ages three and four, with structured play, imaginative activities and rest built into the day.
The pilot sits within a school that serves students from pre-kindergarten through grade 12. Families considering entry can arrange a visit, meet school staff and take part in the admissions process, which includes readiness assessments. Ginny Gills leads admissions.
The Fuqua name itself marks a chapter in the institution’s development. In the early 1990s, a gift from philanthropist J.B. Fuqua helped open a new phase for the school. Its history describes the adoption of his name as part of that renewed direction.
Today, Head of School Paul “Chance” Reynolds leads a program that places academics alongside arts, athletics and personal attention. Band and visual arts are among the creative opportunities; the school also fields athletic teams and organizes activities across its lower and upper grades.
Fuqua identifies five priorities behind that program: academic breadth, extracurricular opportunities, personal attention, character development and responsible stewardship. They connect the daily work of classrooms with the institution’s longer-term plans for its students and campus.
The school is at 605 Fuqua Drive in Farmville. Families seeking information about the preschool pilot or other admissions can contact admissions@fuquaschool.org or call 434-392-4131.
