HCE Systems brings four decades of heating and cooling work to Norton
A business that began in St. Paul now combines HVAC service, hearth displays and refrigerated-trailer rentals.
A refrigerated trailer may seem an unusual companion to a fireplace showroom. At HCE Systems in Norton, both belong to a business whose work revolves around controlling temperature in practical ways.
Roger Whitaker started the company in 1986 as Clinch River Heating and Cooling in St. Paul. In 1991, the business moved to Norton and took the HCE name. The following year, it built its Hawthorne Drive location, establishing the base it still identifies with today.
Heating and air-conditioning installation, repair and maintenance remain central to the operation. Planned service contracts sit alongside emergency work, giving the company a role in both scheduled upkeep and urgent equipment problems.
