At Madison at the Mill, industrial history makes room for a celebration
Shalese and Robert’s Orange venue pairs old wood and brick with the practical ingredients of a large event.
The floors and brickwork at Madison at the Mill carry the character of an older building. Chandeliers, built-in bars and room for a large gathering give that industrial setting a second life as an Orange wedding and event venue.
Shalese and Robert have worked together on the business since 2015. Their connection to the space is personal: they married there in October 2019, experiencing their own venue from the other side of the celebration.
The fully indoor space can seat up to 350 guests. Its offering includes handmade reclaimed-wood tables, cushioned Chiavari chairs and a preparation kitchen with a commercial ice machine. These are the practical foundations that allow couples and event organizers to focus on the gathering itself.
Shalese brings experience from wedding photography, event planning and work with Richmond Weddings magazine. The couple also operates Spoon & Spindle, the restaurant down the hall, adding another chapter to their hospitality work in the building.
Located on North Madison Road, the Mill hosts weddings and other celebrations, including corporate events and quinceañeras. Its appeal comes from both scale and character: a substantial indoor venue whose historic materials remain part of the occasion.
