PMI Commonwealth brings a broad real estate background to Charlottesville property management
Michael Johnson’s real estate career has taken him from commercial buildings in San Diego to a national property portfolio and, eventually, Virginia. At PMI Commonwealth, that experience now informs a Charlottesville-based practice working with residential and commercial property owners.
Michael Johnson’s real estate career has taken him from commercial buildings in San Diego to a national property portfolio and, eventually, Virginia. At PMI Commonwealth, that experience now informs a Charlottesville-based practice working with residential and commercial property owners.
Johnson, the firm’s managing agent, began his career managing and leasing commercial properties in the San Diego area. After completing an MBA at Holy Names University in 2000, he moved into asset management for a pension fund advisory business, overseeing commercial real estate across the country. His move to Virginia followed in 2010, with work representing landlords and tenants in the Mid-Atlantic.
Those roles bring different perspectives to the same building: the owner considering its long-term future, the tenant using it every day and the manager handling its immediate needs. PMI Commonwealth’s services cover that practical middle ground, from marketing and rent collection to maintenance coordination and financial reporting.
The office is locally owned and independently operated within the Property Management Inc. franchise. Its residential and commercial services are supported by online access for owners and residents. Owners can review information about their properties, while residents have tools for billing and maintenance requests.
That separation of responsibilities matters in property management. A repair request, a lease question and an owner’s accounting needs belong to the same operation, but require different kinds of attention. PMI Commonwealth brings them together through its management services and customer portals.
The company also provides real estate brokerage services. For property owners deciding how to manage an existing rental or consider their next step, the Charlottesville office offers a place to discuss both the ongoing work of ownership and a possible transaction.
