Rappahannock Restoration makes modern room within Fredericksburg’s historic character

A historic home can need a better kitchen, a larger living area or entirely new systems without losing what made it worth preserving. That balance is central to Rappahannock Restoration’s work in Fredericksburg.

Fredericksburg native Jason Gallant founded the company in 1998. Its projects have included renovations within the city’s Historic District as well as work in Stafford, King George and Spotsylvania counties.

The company takes on single-room renovations, whole-building projects and additions. Across that range, the original structure and its surroundings help guide the work. Contemporary features and lower-maintenance materials are considered alongside the character of the existing property.

Its carpenters work with specialist trade contractors, a collaboration suited to projects that involve more than one kind of expertise. A renovation may bring together finish carpentry, structural changes and modern services; the company’s role is to coordinate those parts within the larger project.

That approach gives the business a clear local purpose. Fredericksburg’s older buildings can remain useful homes while retaining the details and context that connect them to the neighborhood. Owners can contact Rappahannock Restoration to discuss a room, an addition or a more extensive restoration.
