Sloan’s Lawncare brings an Ohio beginning to eastern Bedford County

Chris Sloan started his lawncare business in Trenton, Ohio, in October 2017. A move with his wife, Sarah, during the winter of 2022–23 brought the business to Bedford County and gave Sloan's Lawncare a new group of neighborhoods to serve.

Today its territory includes Forest, New London, Wildwood and Timberlake, with an emphasis on eastern Bedford County. The work ranges from the repeated rhythm of mowing and seasonal cleanup to the heavier equipment needed when a property needs grading or excavation.

That combination is a useful distinction. A lawncare visit and an earthmoving project require different tools and planning, but they often concern the same piece of ground. Sloan's services include mowing, pruning, mulching, aeration and overseeding, while its excavation and grading work draws on equipment such as skid steers, backhoes and excavators.

The seasonal services give customers a way to address the work that accumulates around the mowing schedule: leaves, overgrown plantings and beds that need attention. Larger projects broaden the business beyond routine upkeep without changing its local service area.

The relocation is also part of the company's story. Sloan brought several years of experience running the Ohio operation to Virginia, then began building relationships in a different community. The move placed the couple nearer Sarah's family and established Bedford County as the business's new base.
