The Dortch family looks beyond the thermostat at Solutions Heating & Cooling

A heating or cooling problem does not always begin at the thermostat. At Solutions Heating & Cooling, the Dortch family has built a business that considers equipment, ductwork and the way a home uses energy together.

Owners Shad and Heather Dortch lead the company, which has roots in Halifax and an office serving Lynchburg. Shad’s founding idea was to help homeowners make better-informed decisions about comfort and equipment, with attention to the cause of a problem as well as the immediate repair.

That approach is reflected in the team. Seth Dortch works as an energy assessment specialist and holds BPI certification. His role adds a home-performance perspective to a company that also installs and repairs heating and air-conditioning systems.

The service range includes ductless equipment, air-duct cleaning and Aeroseal duct sealing. Those offerings place the air-distribution system alongside the machinery itself. A homeowner considering a replacement can also ask how the existing system is performing and what other parts of the house may need attention.

There is a substantial customer-service side to the work, too. Amanda Dortch handles warranty registrations and claims, while other staff members manage appointments, dispatch and project coordination. Those responsibilities continue after installation day, when paperwork and follow-through become part of owning the equipment.

Solutions also offers maintenance plans, giving customers a way to arrange ongoing service rather than waiting for a breakdown. The appropriate work varies by system and home; the company’s combination of technicians, assessment expertise and office support provides several ways to begin that conversation.

The Lynchburg office is at 403 Fifth Street, Unit 105. Contact Solutions Heating & Cooling at 434-771-0977 or services@heatandacsolutions.com.
