Southern Pine adds a practical extra to the journey home: a moving truck
The Chase City-founded brokerage has expanded across Southern Virginia while building services around the steps that follow a sale.
One of Southern Pine Realty Solutions' additions to its business was not another listing tool. It was a moving truck, made available to clients at no charge—a practical acknowledgment that buying a home is followed by the work of getting there.
The brokerage added the truck in 2023, the same year it expanded into Clarksville. By then, the company had already begun growing beyond its origins in Chase City, where Matt Chumney founded it in 2021. Nathan White joined as its first agent and marketing director.
In 2024, White purchased the business and became principal broker. Southern Pine also opened an office serving Halifax and South Boston, extending its presence across the region. The brokerage works in Southern Virginia and northern North Carolina, including the communities around Kerr Lake and Lake Gaston.
Its growth has been organized around local offices and agents familiar with the places they serve. The company handles real estate buying and selling, with resources for property searches, listing alerts and sellers considering what their homes may be worth. Its Chase City office remains on North Main Street.
The moving truck is a small but concrete expression of the firm's approach. Financing, inspections and closing paperwork receive much of the attention during a purchase. Moving day brings a different set of tasks, and the truck is intended to make that transition easier for clients.
Southern Pine also describes community involvement as part of its identity, with team members serving on local boards and volunteering. The brokerage reports receiving the Chase City Chamber of Commerce's Business of the Year recognition in 2023, an early milestone in its development.
The company is still young compared with many of the homes and communities it serves. Its story so far is one of local expansion, a change in ownership and an effort to stay connected to the practical experience of its customers. The truck belongs in that story as much as the office openings: both are ways of meeting people closer to where they are.
