STW Home Remodeling grew from tile work into the rooms around it
Daniel Aseyev started with tile. Then homeowners began asking about the rest of the bathroom: the shower, the vanity, the room surrounding the finished surface. Those requests helped turn a Harrisonburg tile business into STW Home Remodeling.
Daniel Aseyev started with tile. Then homeowners began asking about the rest of the bathroom: the shower, the vanity, the room surrounding the finished surface. Those requests helped turn a Harrisonburg tile business into STW Home Remodeling.
Aseyev founded the company in 2012 under the name Superior Tile Works. Its growth into remodeling followed the work rather than leaving its original trade behind. Tile remains central to the business, but the projects now include bathrooms, accessible bathrooms, kitchens and backsplashes, as well as commercial work and outdoor living areas.
That background shapes the way STW approaches a room. Drainage slopes, waterproofing and the preparation beneath a finished surface are part of the planning, not simply details to address when tile arrives. Aseyev handles preparation and intricate detail work himself, drawing on more than two decades in construction.
The scale of the crew is another defining choice. STW generally keeps a small team—often two people—on a project from demolition through the final grout work. For a homeowner, that means the people carrying out the work remain familiar as the room changes. Questions can stay close to the person responsible for the job.
The company's completed-project photographs show the visible result of that approach: fitted shower enclosures, carefully arranged tile and transitions between materials. Yet its account of the work repeatedly returns to what sits underneath and where surfaces meet. A drain, a doorway or a line of trim can make the difference between a room that merely looks finished and one whose details have been considered together.
STW also carries its tile experience into commercial projects. That adds a different setting for the same craft, while residential remodeling remains an opportunity to tailor the room to the people who use it every day.
The company's story is one of a trade expanding through customer requests. The name has changed, but the starting point remains recognizable: understand the tile, prepare the room properly and keep the details in the hands of the people doing the work.
