At Sycamore Canyon, a creekside barn is built around the work of hosting

A wedding venue needs more than a beautiful place for the ceremony. At Sycamore Canyon in Hardy, the creekside setting is paired with practical spaces for the people doing the hosting: a professional warming kitchen, an outdoor woodfired kitchen and a barn designed to accommodate different event layouts.

The family-owned venue occupies 21 acres near Smith Mountain Lake. Its 6,000-square-foot barn is described by the business as able to host more than 200 guests, with outdoor ceremony locations adding another way to use the property.

The owners bring backgrounds in event management, culinary work and catering. That experience is reflected in the amenities. Tables and chairs are available, and layouts can be arranged around the guest count. The indoor and outdoor spaces allow the celebration to move between different settings instead of relying on a single room.

Food is an especially tangible part of the property’s design. A warming kitchen supports event service, while the outdoor woodfired kitchen adds a different kind of gathering place. Those are details with a purpose: the setting has to work for the hosts and service team as well as the guests.

Although weddings are central to Sycamore Canyon’s identity, the venue also accommodates family celebrations, corporate gatherings and other special events. The same combination of open space, a substantial barn and hospitality facilities can be adapted to different occasions.

Its character comes from that balance of landscape and preparation. The creekside property offers the atmosphere, while the event spaces provide the structure needed to bring people together.
