A family farm gives Orange celebrations room to breathe

Hayfields, Angus cattle and ponds remain part of the setting at Lakeland Farm. Weddings take place within that working landscape, where The Pavilion on Lakeland Farm combines the scale of a dedicated event building with the character of a family property outside Orange.

The farm's manor house dates to the 1870s. Its more recent story runs through the Sedwick family: H. B. Sedwick Jr. purchased the property in the early 1960s, and Steve and Janet bought it in 1989 and renovated the manor. The Pavilion came later, with an exterior modeled on the older house.

That connection gives the venue a visual anchor. The newer building borrows from the manor's proportions while providing an interior designed for gatherings. High ceilings and skylights bring light into the banquet hall, and the grounds extend the celebration beyond the building itself.

Gardens overlook two of the farm's three ponds. Open fields provide a different backdrop from a downtown hotel or enclosed reception room, while the Pavilion offers an indoor place to gather. Couples can consider how they want the day to move between the landscape and the hall rather than treating the outdoor setting as a place for photographs alone.

The venue accommodates different approaches to a wedding, from a smaller elopement to plans built around a full weekend. It also hosts other events. That flexibility fits a property whose appeal comes from several elements working together: a family history, an active farm and a purpose-built gathering space.

The Pavilion's name keeps the farm at the center of the experience. The surrounding agricultural landscape is not a decorative theme added to an event room; it is part of the property's continuing use and identity.

The Pavilion on Lakeland Farm is at 13528 Sedwick Lane in Orange. Couples and event organizers can contact the venue at 540-748-0325 to discuss availability and the arrangements appropriate to their gathering.
