The Seclusion turns a Lexington retreat into a place for celebrations
Trish Daniel and her husband Brian built their mountain venue around the views that first drew them to the property.
Trish Daniel and her husband Brian had a name for their future Virginia property before they found the land. They wanted privacy and remarkable views. “The Seclusion” described the place they hoped to discover.
A visit to the Lexington area in 2014 brought them to the property that fulfilled that idea. They moved from Houston the following year, then gradually cleared enough brush to understand the land’s possibilities. What began as a prospective retreat became a plan to share the setting through weddings and private events.
Local craftspeople helped build the timber-frame venue, according to Daniel’s account. Oak timbers, a stone fireplace and chandeliers give the interior its character, while a covered veranda opens the celebration toward the surrounding mountains.
The property encompasses 72 private acres southwest of Lexington. Its offerings now include Whippoorwill Cottage lodging, adding an overnight option to the venue’s wedding and event setting.
Daniel serves as owner and event designer. Her story gives the business a personal foundation: a couple drawn repeatedly to a community, then creating a place where other people could mark their own milestones. Visits are arranged by appointment, allowing prospective clients to experience the property before planning an event.
