Valley Trust Insurance built a shared agency from two local businesses
The Staunton-based independent agency brings personal, commercial and employee-benefit coverage under one roof.
Valley Trust Insurance began with a joining of local businesses. In June 2014, ProSure Insurance and Dorton Insurance Services merged, bringing their work together in an independent agency that now serves customers from Staunton and Lexington.
Owners Mark Dorton and Jake Schindler lead a business whose coverage spans households, companies and employee benefits. The independent model allows the agency to work with multiple insurers, giving its team different carrier options to consider as customers' needs change.
The range includes familiar personal coverage as well as insurance for businesses and farms. Contractor coverage is another part of the commercial offering, connecting the agency to the trades and employers that operate throughout the Valley.
Those categories represent different kinds of conversations. A family reviewing home and auto coverage may be focused on a recent purchase or a change in household circumstances. A business owner may need to consider property, operations and employees together. The agency's breadth allows it to address those needs within the same organization, with the selected insurer and policy determining the actual coverage.
Local involvement also appears in Valley Trust's account of its work. The agency identifies support for organizations including Young Life, Valley Mission and Staunton Storm Athletics. Those connections place the company within a community network extending beyond insurance transactions.
More than a decade after the merger, Valley Trust's story remains one of combining experience and local relationships. Its two offices give customers named people to contact, while the independent structure supplies a wider set of insurance options for the discussion.
