Willow Shade grew from landscape work into a Culpeper nursery

Willow Shade Nursery began with work on other people’s properties. Founded by Jessica and Joshua in 2018, the family- and veteran-owned business first focused on landscaping and maintenance before adding a nursery in 2023.

That expansion brought plants directly into the customer experience. At its Rixeyville Road location in Culpeper, Willow Shade serves retail and wholesale buyers with perennials, annuals, shrubs, trees and houseplants.

Landscaping remains part of the business, alongside mowing, mulching and property maintenance. The combination connects choosing plants with the practical work of establishing and caring for a landscape.

Seasonal offerings add another reason to visit, from pumpkins to Christmas trees. Garden decor, straw and firewood broaden the range beyond planting alone, while porch decorating is another service the nursery highlights.

The business is also developing ideas for a greenhouse and a pick-your-own garden experience. Those remain plans described by the nursery, rather than completed features.

For Culpeper residents, Willow Shade offers a local place where gardening purchases and landscape conversations meet. Its growth from service work into a nursery reflects a business adding another way to help customers care for the spaces around their homes.
