Farmville’s Saturday sunset bike ride requires lights for the return

The November 7 ranger-led outing covers about ten miles from downtown Farmville along High Bridge Trail.

A Saturday afternoon ride on High Bridge Trail will end after dark, and the park is requiring cyclists to bring a handlebar or helmet light. The ranger-led outing is scheduled for November 7 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., covering approximately ten miles out and back at a relaxed pace.

Riders meet on Main Street across from the Downtown Plaza and caboose, beside The Outdoor Adventure Store at 318 North Main Street in Farmville. That downtown meeting point is different from the park’s main address in Rice.

The park says cyclists of all abilities are welcome. Participants should bring water and clothing suitable for the weather. No registration is required for the ride, and no extra program fee is listed; the event page says standard parking or admission charges apply.

Anyone needing a bicycle must arrange a rental in advance through The Outdoor Adventure Store at 434-315-5736. Rental reservations close at 2 p.m. on the day of the ride, two and a half hours before departure.

The park’s event listing is the place to check for changes before traveling. High Bridge Trail staff can be reached at 434-480-5835.
